——The fifth night（Orient Night）
“Dried tangerine, tuckahoe, ginger, Chinese roses…”
Whispered an old man with white beards
Running his withered hand over scraps of paper, mothy-tattered badly.
And “snake, scorpion, bufonid, Centipede…”
Muttered from his mouth with missing teeth.
Suddenly, the old man opened his almost blinded eyes,
And kicked over the bubbling yellow soup off the fire,
Before hot smoke arose from the grass.
Baring wounded chest,
an odd-looking man of Yue Kingdom
was carving crescent characters
with a dagger on a black paper
A woman of Shui minority
Humming a ditty,
was decorating a blue wedding dress
With colorful horsetail embroidery and dazzling silver beads,
The latter, were sewed in circle tightly, swaying on the dress,
Just like the pierced-type silver earrings, wobbling in the air.
In spread of pollia,
A few yellow-bellied tits were resting on a child’s tummy,
Talking and laughing,
Cheerfully and harmoniously.
A lissome eastern fairy was blowing the reed flute,
Hanging upside down a bay laurel,
And ignoring that Lianas growing in the cavern
Wrapped around my neck unceasingly.
When the fluting faints,
the fairy pointed at the lake,
Suddenly, glowworm gathered and
poured the charred charcoal into the warm urn
Filling it with water
Then they sent it to the fairy
Later, I came to know the charred nectar is Pu’er tea
Aromatic and strong.
And I, hearing the dulcet harp tones
Watching fairies dancing
I depicted this fantastic night, the Oriental night
In the most precious ink, the jade-color ink
the fairy rewarded for me
Sun in the west rises
From the Sunset Bay
I just remained
